- Welcome to Caltech:
Robbie Nock
Robbie joined Caltech on October 20 as the deputy director of the Center for Technology and Management Education (CTME) in the Division of Engineering and Applied Science, where he will advance the center's custom programs and professional education offerings. He comes to CTME from ArtCenter College of Design, where he led entrepreneurship and professional education programs as an administrator and assistant professor.

Cynthia Eller
In December, Cynthia will be retiring after six years of dedicated service at Caltech, three of those years in the early 1980s and three in the 2020s. As a science writer in the Office of Communications and External Relations, she covered research news across all six of Caltech’s academic divisions, but especially the humanities and social sciences division.

Georgia Squyres
On November 12, Georgia was awarded a L'Oréal USA 2025 For Women in Science grant. Georgia is a postdoctoral scholar studying how bacteria coordinate complex tasks within biofilms in the lab of Dianne Newman, Gordon M. Binder/Amgen Professor of Biology and Geobiology and Merkin Institute Professor.

Terrance "Terry" Tumey
Terry joined Caltech as director of Athletics, Recreation and Instruction (ARI) on October 28. Prior to Caltech, Terry's multifaceted career included tenures as a college football player and coach, as a college athletics administrator at NCAA Division I, II, and III level schools, and as an executive in the National Football League (NFL).

Michelle Markarian
Michelle joined Caltech as an administrative assistant in the Division of Engineering and Applied Science. In March 2025, she began supporting faculty and their research groups with equipment orders, travel planning, reimbursements, and event logistics. Prior to Caltech, Michelle worked for a casting director and assisted with TV shows, films, and podcasts.

Anna Iudintseva
Anna joined Caltech as the first full-time mechanical engineer at the new gravitational wave detector observatory called Cosmic Explorer, which observes the first events that occurred after the Big Bang. In June 2025, Anna started working with other LIGO scientists to develop the 40 km by 40 km interferometer to be built in the next decade.
